Robert D. Krzykowski, who previously directed The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot, will helm the film from a script he wrote. The film will be a live-action adaptation of John Gardner’s namesake 1971 novel, itself partially based on the Old English epic poem Beowulf. Previously, the novel inspired the 1981 animated film Grendel Grendel Grendel.

Filming is slated to start in Europe later this year. Considering this, we can speculate that Grendel can premiere in 2026 at the earliest.
