During a show with his cover band The Coverups, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong invited Courtney Love to the stage to perform Cheap Trick’s “Surrender” and “He’s a Whore” and Tom Petty’s “Even the Losers.”
The concert took place at The Garage in London on Tuesday, where Armstrong and his band covered The Ramones, David Bowie, Bryan Adams, The Strokes, The Clash, and Buzzcocks. Armstrong then had Love join to perform “He’s a Whore” and “Even the Losers,” and later for “Surrender” during the show’s finale.
After Armstrong introduced Love, she responded by telling the audience, “Thank you, Billie Joe. My name is Courtney Love. You may not remember me. I’ve been living in a cave in Birmingham for about nine years. We’ll give this a fucking try, right?” Watch a clip of Love’s performance below.
Billie Joe Armstrong may be rippin’ it up with Courtney Love and his cover band overseas, but his main band will be heading back to Europe and the UK for the first leg of Green Day’s “The Saviors Tour.” The band will then commence their North American tour in late July, and they’ll be playing their seminal albums Dookie and American Idiot in full throughout the trek.
