Green beer, corned beef, music and freebies: Where to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Indy

St. Patrick’s Day is fast approaching. And with it, the chance to hoist green beer and Jameson, down corned beef, win prizes and listen to live Irish music at bars and restaurants across the Indianapolis area.

One spot is even giving away customized engraved Guinness glasses.

Because the holiday falls on a Sunday in 2024, much of the fun is spread out over the weekend.

Here’s a look at some St. Patrick’s Day specials and festivities in the Indianapolis area.

Through March 17: Free Leprechaun Lemonade

The chicken finger chain has brought back its green Leprechaun Lemonade through March 17.

Caniac Club members get a free 22-ounce Leprechaun Lemonade (traditional hand-squeezed lemonade colored green) loaded onto their club card.

March 15: Party at Howl at the Moon

This St. Patrick's Day party has live music, discounted drinks, $5 green beer, $5 White Claw and giveaways.

It’s a 21-and-older event.

March 16: Meet a leprechaun, hear bagpipes or hunt for gold

The Gold on the Green Bash  St. Patrick’s Day Party is an all-day family-friendly event with an10 a.m.-1 p.m. Keggs and Eggs brunch menu; DJs, raffles, competitions, green beer, Leprechaun Punch, St. Paddy’s Day slushies and a leprechaun meet and greet.

Live music, specialty cocktails, green beer, themed food, live bagpiping and games are in the works for this celebration.

It’s a 21-and-older event.

The St. Patty's Palooza is an afternoon of drink specials and hunting for hidden pots of gold scattered throughout the venue and worth prizes. Bowling and karaoke are available for booking, as well as free games like cornhole, darts and board games.

The Irish Airs will perform live 12-4 p.m.

Admission is free for the all-ages celebration.

A lunchtime – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Celebration in the Cafe menu will include cottage pie; corned beef and cabbage; Irish soda bread; shepherd's pie; Irish Guinness lamb stew; the Roney Reuben; and peach slushies.

March 17: Try smoked corned beef sliders

The barbeque spot has several  Irish-themed specials for St. Patrick's Day: the Royal County Down “Hot Dog” with a traditional Irish sausage; coddle, an Irish stew with smoked sausages and rashers bacon; and smoked corned beef sliders.

March 15-17: Mass, green beer and more

Drink deals include $3 green beer drafts, $4 Jameson and $5 Guinness.

In addition, throughout March there are limited-time cocktails: the Irish Old Fashioned made with Jameson, house-made Guinness syrup, cocoa bitters and orange; and the Irish Goodbye made with house-made Guinness syrup, lemon juice and Fever-Tree Ginger Beer. The Reuben sandwich also is available throughout March.

The St. Patrick's Weekend Celebration at this Irish pub, Indy’s oldest, will have a large heated tent, lots of beers on tap from Zink Distributing, Ace cheeseburgers and live Irish music, including Derek Warfield & The Young Wolfe Tones, Brigid’s Cross, Laughing Jack, Déardaoin and J.P. & The Donegal Boys.

A Catholic Mass with Rev. Joe Moriarty will kick off Sunday.

Must be 21 to attend (except for Mass).

On its grand opening weekend, the burger bar has $8.88 app specials all day on March 15, $7 Take-Home Mugs filled with a choice of green beer, margarita or a Slippery Slope Cocktail (vodka, raspberry lemonade and lite beer served on the rocks). Refills are $2-$4. On March 17,  $3 green beers will be served.

The 12th annual Sham-Rockin party will have bands and entertainment, March Madness games on the TVs, green beer flowing and giveaways each night. A full Irish menu includes corned beef and cabbage.

Live music, including bagpipers all weekend, with authentic Irish food & drinks served.

Admission is free.

The bar will have drink features all weekend, and bagpipers on Saturday. But Friday is the day to visit for a free custom engraved Guinness glass.

Come for Irish stew and hear bagpipers and the band Rough Around the Edges play all weekend.

March 16-17: Live music in Broad Ripple

  • Broad Ripple Saint Patrick's Day Tent Party, corner lot east of The Quarter, 925 E. Westfield Blvd., Indianapolis

This event, sponsored by The Quarter and Cholita, will feature live music, DJs, drink and food specials, a photo booth, games and green beer.
