BAY HARBOR — The Great Lakes Center for the Arts recently announced two new leadership changes, which will be effective Aug. 1.

Kassia Perpich will be promoted to executive director, while the current executive director Matthew Kacergis will transition to the role of artistic director.

Perpich, who has been employed as the center’s associate director since early 2023, will oversee day-to-day operations and lead the team of 20 full-time staff, 80 volunteers and seasonal employees. She also previously served on the center’s board of directors.

Kacergis, who joined the center’s team in 2019 as the director of programming and was named executive director in 2022, will be responsible for curating a year-round schedule of performances and representing the organization in the local and national artistic community.

“This new structure ensures the center will continue to enjoy strong, stable leadership for many years,” said Kathleen Oswald, chair of the board of directors. “Kassia and Matthew have worked together to build an excellent team and have set the stage for continued growth and success. The board looks forward to working with them both in these new roles.”

The upcoming 2024 summer and fall season includes performances by Preservation Hall Jazz Band, The Temptations and the Four Tops, LeAnn Rimes, the King’s Singers, the Grand Rapids Ballet and more. Original productions include “When You Wish: A Musical Tribute to 100 Years of Magic” and the hit musical “Mamma Mia!”
