‘The Great British Baking Show’ Is Back for a New Season

The Great British Baking Show tent is preheating!

Starting Sept. 29, Netflix will air the new season, with new episodes dropping every Friday. Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, along with co-host Noel Fielding will be joined by U.K. TV personality Alison Hammond, who will replace Matt Lucas this season as a new co-host.

As always, twelve amateur bakers will battle it out in the iconic gingham-clad tent to vie for the illustrious title. PEOPLE can exclusively announce the competitors who will be featured on the Netflix-distributed show this year.

Abbi, 27

From Cumbria, England, Abbi is a nature-lover. She’s a professional “veg grower” and delivery driver, who forages for her own seasonal ingredients to whip up her next great bake.

Amos, 43

A deli and grocery manager who lives in North London, Amos describes his kitchen creations as a “labor of love.” The Nottingham-native currently lives in a converted church, which he says is similar in design to his baking style: “Traditional with a modern twist’.

Cristy, 33

A PA and a mom of four, Cristy says her tasty confections are inspired by her Israeli heritage and her husband’s Jamaican roots.

Dan, 42

Hailing from Cheshire, England, Dan is a civil engineering resource planner. In his free time, he loves to challenge himself by testing out tricky recipes from his collection of more than 300 cookbooks.

Dana, 35

Dana is a database administrator from Essex, England. Describing herself as an “untidy baker,” she embraces a minimalist style and incorporates flavors from her Indian heritage in her confections.

Josh, 27

For the Leicestershire, England, native, mixing together different ingredients comes naturally. Josh is a chemist who also happens to be his recreational rugby team’s go-to baker after they have intense practices.

Keith, 60

Keith’s affinity for baking began when he was a kid, learning from his mom’s cooking. He’s recently started challenging himself to bake treats popular in the 1970s to reconnect with his formative years.

Matty, 28

From Cambridgeshire, England, Matty is his family’s “designated baker.” A physical education and science teacher, the 28-year-old focuses on “rustic but neat” designs. His most fun bake yet? His fiancée tasked him with making their wedding cake.

Nicky, 52

A retired flight attendant, Nicky says her baking is “like a pair of comfy old slippers,” consisting of “little traditional bakes that evoke fond memories.” The West Midlands native volunteers for a pet therapy charity in her free time.

Rowan, 21

The youngest baker this season, Rowan is a student, studying English literature and is from West Yorkshire, England. A perfectionist in the kitchen, he crafted his own 21st birthday cake, which towered at three tiers with a whopping 12 layers.

Saku, 50

Originally from Sri Lanka, Saku honors her home country in every one of her bakes. A late bloomer in the kitchen, the intelligence analyst didn’t have an oven until she was 18. She became enamored with baking when she moved to the U.K., and taught herself how to conjure up tasty desserts.

Tasha, 27

A participation officer who lives in Bristol, England, Tasha uses baking as a creative outlet. When she’s not testing out increasingly difficult recipes, she enjoys seeing shows in London’s West End and traveling around the globe.
