Festival season is still TBD this year, but Deadheads and footwear collectors alike can still get their hands (nay, feet) on some new Grateful Dead merch, thanks to the band’s latest collaboration with Sanuk.
The new Sanuk x Grateful Dead Collection features hippie-inspired versions of the footwear brand’s most popular slides and sandals, with homages to the Dead’s iconic logo, tie-dye patterns and psychedelic prints. The band’s iconic 13-point lightning bolt logo appears on the heel of many of the shoes, or across the straps on the sandals.

The limited-edition collection includes styles for men, women, and kids, with prices ranging from $50 to $65. Among the new additions to the lineup: a “vagabond” take on Sanuk’s cozy Sidewalk Surfer slip-ons, and a bandana-inspired take on a pair of women’s Yoga Sling flip-flops. Sanuk says the shoes are all “perfect for jamming out and keeping feet cozy.”
This is an officially licensed collaboration, in partnership with Warner Music Artist Services, and designed in collaboration with and approved by the Grateful Dead. As part of Sanuk’s sustainability efforts, the collection includes shoes made from hemp, jute and a unique “Bloom Foam” material that uses repurposed algae.
The brand calls this a “psychedelic collaboration” that arrives at a time where people need a little lightness and happiness in their lives. “Creativity, collaboration and music are crucial for us all – especially during these unique times,” says Sanuk’s marketing director Seth Pulford, in a release. “We’re excited to pay tribute to the band and the magnetic legacy they’ve gifted us with. This collection of modern classics does just that.”
This is the fourth time the California-based footwear brand has partnered with the Grateful Dead; the last collection dropped in June and quickly sold out within days of release, though some popular styles, like the Grateful Dead version of Sanuk’s Puff N Chill slipper (perfect for work-from-home days) have been re-stocked.
The new Sanuk x Grateful Dead collection is available now exclusively on Sanuk.com.
