Grand Ole Opry stars Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers bring bluegrass to Brevard

When it comes to kudos and accolades, Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers don’t ramble around.

Regulars at the Grand Ole Opry for a solid decade, they currently have the number two bluegrass song in the nation, “Black and White,” from their group’s most recent album, “Let Time Ride.” They are bluegrass at its finest and purest, and they have penciled in a concert in Brevard as part of their current tour.

The Xenia, Ohio, group were named Entertainers of the Year in 2019 by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). Mullins was also lauded as 2023 Banjo Player of the Year by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America.

Mullins and his Ramblers have enjoyed eleven number one hits and albums in as many years. Their “For the Record” album was a Top 5 Billboard hit and remained solidly on the charts for a record 13 months, spawning multiple Top 10 singles. The Ramblers’ current “Somewhere Beyond the Blue” album has received multiple nominations by the IBMA, including  Gospel Recorded Performance for the single “Hear Jerusalem Calling.”

Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers will be in Titusville for a single show on Friday, Jan. 19. Call (321) 222-7797 or reserve seats at JTsBluegrass.com.

The multi-talented Mullins is also an award-winning radio broadcaster heard around the world via Real Roots Radio and the host of “Front Porch Fellowship,” a syndicated radio program heard in more than 200 stations worldwide. For Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, he recently produced IBMA’s Album of the Year, “Industrial Strength Bluegrass.”

He has the chops, and he’s got the charm, too.

“Joe is like family and one of the most unpretentious professional entertainers I’ve ever met,” said J.T. Shealy, who has orchestrated the Ramblers’ concert at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19, at Shepherd’s Hall, 2063 Garden St., Titusville.

Shealy has been delivering outstanding bluegrass to Brevard since 2007. The promoter is also a bluegrass artist who has performed with numerous bluegrass bands and knows what true aficionados of the genre enjoy hearing. He selected Shepherd’s Hall as concert venue for its spacious yet intimate space and for acoustics perfect for the finest in bluegrass.

The Ramblers’ Jan. 19 concert will feature current hits like “Black & White,” as well as fan favorites such as “The Guitar Song” and “If I’d Have Wrote That Song.”

Shealy has kept tickets affordable at $28, a real deal for an evening listening to these torchbearers for mainstream bluegrass and gospel music. The show should be a sellout, so the advice is to play early bird and reserve seats at jtsbluegrass.com or by calling 321-222-7797.

This is the sixth time Shealy has brought the consummate entertainers to the Space Coast.

“It’s going to be a wonderful evening at Shepherd’s Hall,” he said.
