The 61st Grammy Awards nominations will now be announced on Friday, Dec. 7, instead of Wednesday, Dec. 5 as previously planned due to memorial services for former President George H.W. Bush, it was announced on Monday.
Select categories will be announced live on “CBS This Morning” and on Apple Music at 8:30 a.m. ET. Immediately following, at 8:45 a.m. ET, the Recording Academy will announce nominations across all 84 categories via press release, GRAMMY.com, and the Recording Academy’s social media platforms.
The former Republican president and Navy fighter pilot Bush died Friday at age 94. Details of his memorial service were later announced on Saturday night.
An arrival ceremony involving both the House and Senate will be held at 4:45 p.m. ET on Monday at the U.S. Capitol, where Bush will lie in state in the rotunda until Wednesday morning, according to CNN. The public can pay their respects to the 41st president from 7:30 p.m. ET Monday to 8:45 a.m. ET Wednesday.
On Wednesday, family and friends will gather at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC, for an 11 a.m. ET memorial service and President Trump has designated that a national day of mourning.
Bush will be laid to rest with his wife Barbara, who died in April, and their daughter Robin, who died of leukemia as a child, on the grounds of the George Bush Presidential Library & Museum in College Station, Texas.
