Graham Norton has revealed Harvey Weinstein once pestered him to appear on his BBC chat show.

The now-convicted rapist and former movie producer did appear on The Graham Norton Show once in 2015 and the broadcaster revealed that it was a result of the Oscar winner's persistence.

In an interview with Joe magazine, Norton was asked about his worst ever guest to which he replied: "It’s Harvey Weinstein. He’s in jail, so he gets the prize for the worst guest ever."

Norton then revealed that Weinstein pressured him into letting him appear on the show through several email exchanges.

Norton said: "He decided he wanted to be on the show because he was going to promote something. And it was a show that was fully booked, so I replied saying 'Oh, thank you so much, but the show is fully booked'. He emailed back: 'What if I blah de blah de blah'. [I replied] 'No, the show is fully booked, blah de blah'."

The Eurovision host added: "I just had to turn to my booker and say 'Can you please deal with this?' And at the time, I thought that sort of attitude, that kind of 'Oh no, I’m going on', that is what makes you a very good producer."

"But of course, now that we know what we know, that is what makes him a predator. It was that kind of weird, tunnel-vision thing. And it was sort of chilling in retrospect, because I was just laughing at those emails. But you realise 'Oh my God, that is an insight into how that man is'."

Weinstein, who produced acclaimed movies such as Pulp Fiction, Shakespeare in Love and Gangs of New York, was publicly accused of sexual assault in 2017.

More than 80 women made allegations against Weinstein and he was later sentenced to 23 years in prison after being charged with rape.

He is still yet to face further legal proceedings in the US and UK.
