'Gotham' Preview: Penguin Turns on an Old Friend

You can’t teach an old bird new tricks — that’s how the saying goes, right? In this exclusive clip from the season finale of Gotham, watch as Penguin reveals his true colors to Don Falcone. Oh, how far those two have come from just half a season ago.

Oswald Cobblepot’s relentless ambition and unwillingness to take orders from anyone finally comes around to focus on, arguably, the only person who’s done more for him than his mother. His seething rage has fueled this entire season, but now it threatens to bring his world down around him. “I’m going to take your place, old man!” he screams, but what will he do if he does? What happens to a mind like that when there’s nobody left to kill?

The confrontations range from intimate moments like this to multiple, full-on gun battles. There will be a “king of Gotham” by the end, but nobody’s going down without a fight. Penguin, Falcone, Don Maroni, and a returning Fish Mooney all stake their claims, and the city is caught in the crossfire. Barbara, Leslie, and Nygma all contend with their traumas of the past in ways that are both unexpected and a long time coming. Selina falls in with an even worse crowd, and Bruce Wayne makes a discovery about his father that already has us champing at the bit for Season 2.
