GoT's Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams 'Tried to Sneak a Kiss Into Every Scene' Together

GoT's Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams 'Tried to Sneak a Kiss Into Every Scene' Together

Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams may play siblings on Game of Thrones, but their off-screen bond is as close to sisterhood as it comes.

This April, Turner and Williams will return to their roles as Sansa Stark and Arya Stark, respectively, for season 8 — the series’ last, which will conclude the HBO drama.

Weeks before the premiere airs, the costars-turned-best friends spoke with Glamour UK for the publication’s Spring/Summer 2019 issue and dished on their real-life love for one another, as well as the “sneaky” (and intimate!) on-set prank they pull on the cast and crew.

“Maisie is definitely my protector and I’m hers, too. I know if anything happened – especially if it was on Game Of Thrones, which it never, ever would – she’d go crazy and protect me… Maisie is my strong home,” Turner, 23, told the outlet.

Williams, 21, shared similar sentiments about her on-camera big sister.

“Sophie knows too much about me to not be my friend. I can’t tell you the amount of times Sophie said, ‘Go to therapy’ before I actually did. She really helped me through some messy break-ups and some friend break-ups. Whenever I’m like, ‘I need help! This is bigger than anything I can sort out on my own,’ Sophie is my point of call. I think therapy is so important. You should absolutely speak to someone, even if in your head you go, ‘Yeah, I knew that!’ ” said Williams.

While it’s no secret that the pair is thick as thieves — even wearing matching Halloween costumes — Turner clarified that she and Williams aren’t romantic.

“People always think Maisie and I are a couple. I mean, I am obsessed with her, so you never know … I’ve got an addiction to Maisie Williams. I actually stalk her hashtag on Instagram!” said Turner, who is engaged to Joe Jonas.

Still, the besties lock lips from time to time.

“Even though we are sisters [in Game of Thrones], we tried to sneak a kiss into every scene we did together to freak everyone out a bit. It kept them on their toes making sure they were following the script,” she said about their on-set tease.

During the 2016 Emmy Awards, Turner opened up about her close friendship with Williams, which they commemorated with matching tattoos.

Turner showed off her ink — which matches Williams’ art — on the red carpet, revealing the meaning behind her peach “07.08.09.”

“We’ve always kind of said we wanted matching tattoos,” Turner told E! News, joking, “It’s still a bit crusty.”

The date was “always really significant,” Turner said, adding that it signifies the exact day both were cast in Game of Thrones. (The girls — who are “best friends,” according to Turner — got their tats while visiting U.K.-based tattoo artist Miss Kat Paine.)

“With Thrones, we were always planning since season one, if we make it all the way through we can get like a matching wolf or something,” said Turner. “We don’t know if we’re going to make it, so Maisie and I were like let’s get these ones before somebody kills us or something.”

Game of Thrones returns April 14 on HBO.
