Google Play Movies & TV App Updated With New Streaming Search Function

Google Play Movies & TV has updated their app to help you find where and how to watch your favorite TV shows and movies. The app will now allow users to see which streaming app is playing specific shows and help discover something entirely new to watch.

In both the Google Play Movies & TV app and in the Play Store, you can search for what TV show is available on any streaming service. If you’re looking for This Is Us, it will immediately show that it’s available via the NBC app or on Hulu. As long as the streaming service is supported by the Google Play Movies & TV app, their content will be included in searches and recommendations.

Google Play will have 28 partners joining the launch including A&E, ABC, Amazon Prime Video, BET Now, CBS, Comedy Central, Cooking Channel, Crackle, Disney Now, DIY Network, Food Network, Fox Now, HBO Go, HBO Now, HGTV, History, Hulu, Lifetime, Max Go, MTV, NBC, Showtime, Showtime Anytime, Starz, The CW, Travel Channel, Tubi TV and VH1. The robust list will continue to grow over time and it will help answer that question we so often get asked about our fave TV show or movie: “Where is it streaming?”

The app will also allow you to browse through tens of thousands of shows and movies on Google Play by genre, making it easier to sort through the vast selection and find something you want to rent or buy quickly. The app will also keep track of your tastes with a rating system and suggest shows based on what you have watched and rated. It will also include a new watchlist tab that makes it easier to save shows and movies to watch later. The watchlist tab will also keep track of when certain movies and TV shows become available to buy or rent on Play, if the price has recently dropped, or if it is now available to stream.

These updates will be rolling out to Android phones and tablets in the U.S. over the next few days. Check out the new look of the updated app below.
