Goodbye Hollywood, Hello Netflix.

If I were any major Hollywood Studio Head I would be quaking in my boots. Netflix is taking no prisoners. Before Netflix started producing popular homemade content that has blown up across the world and effectively changed the film sphere forever, Hollywood still had a chance. Now, it’s foggy as to where the traditional movie creation process, as well as distribution business, goes from here. Actors, Directors, and Screen Writers are more autonomous than ever. The rule book has changed and Hollywood has to get with it or fall to the tide.

In this year of 2020 anything is possible. We have the equipment to create anything whether that be music, films, or businesses. To promote yourself isn't an impossible task like it was 20 years ago. With social media it gets easier day by day to build a strong following and market whatever it is you do well to gain some type of profit. The future is one of grand independence and self-preservation like never before.People are realizing how much power they retain.

It’s unprecedented how quickly the film industry has transformed from the time between 2000 to 2020 . Nobody could have predicted such an independence from the stronghold money-making machines known as Hollywood Studios. This isn't a monopoly any more and a lot of creators have more choices than ever on how they want to facilitate content. The streaming service responsible for all this incredible chaos is Netflix. With Netflix taking the leap of producing original content and being respected for the art that’s been birthed this far the sky's the limit. Going to the movies sadly seems to be a relic of the past. The only way it could face revival is if Hollywood steps up their game and stops with the disgraceful remakes. If another Disney live action releases I think Hollywood should just close the door on the way out. Netflix, Amazon, and HBO could start releasing in nationwide theaters which could revive the movie going process again but we will have to wait and see what concise mode of action will be made. There will obviously be push back from the past. What’s important is to never lose sight of how both the old and the new have something beautiful to offer.

Now, Hollywood is still unbelievably powerful and holds a lot of cards in it’s deck, but there are definitely cracks in the foundation. These cracks aren't going away anytime soon and with time will be even more pronounced in society and popular culture. In 5 years from now, it will be normal to see Netflix created film at the movies. There will be no hierarchy of pretentiousness when it comes to making iconic cinema and financial independence over art like ventures will be essentially easier and expected. The movie industry won't be the only ones affected by this sea of change either. These award shows will be a thing of the past and these networks are going to have to find other avenues to make their precious money.
