‘The Good Wife’ Spinoff Adds Delroy Lindo To Cast

Delroy Lindo has joined the cast of the upcoming followup The Good Wife series for CBS All Access, CBS’ VOD and live streaming service.

Lindo will play Robert Boseman, an attorney who starts poaching Diane Lockhart’s (Christine Baranski) associates and clients when she gets into financial trouble, and threatens her ability to stay in business.

The Good Wife spinoff series, said to be a little lighter in tone than the mothership drama, will pick up one year after the events of The Good Wife series finale on CBS. An enormous financial scam has destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer, Maia (Rose Leslie), while simultaneously wiping out her mentor Diane Lockhart’s (Baranski) savings. Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, they join Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.

“Boseman is a character who dominates every scene, intimidates every lawyer, and is beloved by every client. He needs to look like a Chicago lawyer, but have a Shakespearian facility with language, and Delroy Lindo was really the only actor who came to mind,” said executive producers Robert and Michelle King. “Obviously, we always loved his work in ‘Get Shorty’ and ‘Clockers,’ but it really was his work in ‘Heist’ that jumps off the screen. It’s an incredible character he created and we are thrilled that Delroy agreed to come on board. Just thinking of his scenes with Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo makes us smile.”

The new The Good Wife series will debut in February 2017 on CBS before moving exclusively to CBS All Access.

Robert and Michelle King co-wrote the premiere episode with Phil Alden Robinson, who will executive produce the premiere episode. The Kings executive produce the series with Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Liz Glotzer, Brooke Kennedy and Alison Cross for CBS Television Studios in association with Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions. The series will be distributed worldwide by CBS Studios International.

In addition to The Good Wife, Lindo recently landed a lead role in writer-director Michael Winnick’s (The Better Half) new indie feature, Malicious. Brett Forbes and Patrick Rizzotti serve as producers on the horror/thriller, with principal photography beginning in Jackson, Mississippi, this month. Known for his roles in Spike Lee’s films Malcolm X and Crooklyn, Lindo also starred in series The Chicago Code and Believe. He’s repped by APA.
