‘Good Times’ Animated Revival Gets Netflix Premiere Date

The Good Times animated revival has an official release date. Netflix shared a short preview of the comedy series on Wednesday (March 20) in a video announcing its new titles due in April. Shared in the comedy section of the clip, Good Times is set to arrive on the streamer April 12.

“Proud to officially announce that I am the Executive Music Producer and the Music Supervisor for @netflix Animated series,” detailed 9th Wonder on Instagram, sharing additional images of the colorful cartoon characters.

“Shouts to the good brothers @_e_jones__ , @georgepettus, @giveemsoul, and @reubenvincent for joining me on this musical journey!”

As previously announced, the series stars Marsai Martin, Jay Pharoah, Yvette Nicole Brown, JB Smoove, Slink Johnson, and Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola voicing the main characters. Additionally, the late Norman Lear is also set to guest star in the premiere episode.

The Good Times animated series finds the fourth generation of the Evans family living in apartment 17C of the last remaining housing projects in Chicago. Ranada Shephard and Carl Jones are the series’ co-creators, with Shephard serving as an executive producer and showrunner. It was first announced in 2020.

Good Times is an iconic series that has transcended generations,” shared Mike Moon, Head of adult animation for Netflix with the first announcement, per Deadline. “We are delighted to partner with this incredible and inspiring creative team in Norman Lear, Carl Jones, Stephen Curry, and Seth MacFarlane to bring this timely reimagining to life.”
