'The Good Place' Star D'arcy Carden Has a New Project

Fans are devastated about 'The Good Place' ending after its fourth season. Creator Michael Schnurr explained that the writers were dealing with a complex, philosophy-based premise that was extremely successful but would eventually exhaust them. D'arcy Carden's character, Janet, a non-human with an infinite well of knowledge, quickly became a fan favorite. Fortunately for fans, it won't be the last time they'll be seeing D'Arcy Carden on the small screen. Carden is set to star in Amazon Prime Video's 'A League of Their Own.'

D'Arcy Carden has gone on to great success after her breakout on 'The Good Place.' She has been seen in 'Barry,' 'Bonding,' and 'Bombshell.' However, her role in 'A League of Its Own' not only begins with a letter other than B but has the most potential for Carden to show off her talent. She will be playing a new character named Greta, an army veteran. While the role seems like a stark contrast from Janet, fans have faith that Carden will deliver a home-run performance.

Amazon's 'A League of Their Own' will be a comedic series adaption of the 1992 movie with the same name. The original 'A League of Their Own' featured the creation of America's first all-female baseball team to keep the baseball industry running while men were enlisted in the military during World War II. The cast will not be led Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Lori Petty, or any of the original cast. However, there are talks of paying homage and possibly featuring the movie's former stars.

The series adaption will feature some of the funniest women that are prominent in today's comedy world. In addition to D'arcy Carden, Gbemisola Ikumelo will also join the cast. Ikumelo currently stars on the BBC sketch show 'Famalam.' Ikumelo will be playing a character named Clance. The adaption is being executive produced by Abbi Jacobson, known for her leading role in 'Broad City,' and Will Graham, 'Mozart in the Jungle' showrunner/producer. Jacobson is in talks to play the lead role in the show named Carson. She describes Carson as “a farm girl whose husband is off fighting the war. She runs away from home and tries out for the league in response to an advertisement.”The show currently does not have a set premiere date. However, the creative team is hard at work. The series' episodes have already been extended from half-hour to hour-long episodes.
