GOOD NEWS: Red Bonnet Sisters support Children's Home

SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN'S HOME

The Rooms To Go corporate office presented a $500 gift card to the Red Bonnet Sisters chapter of the Red Hat Society to be raffled off at its annual event held Feb. 26 at Eaglebrooke Country Club in Lakeland. All proceeds from the raffle went to Florida Baptist Children’s Homes One More Child in Lakeland. Also, a carload of children's clothes were donated to the Florida Baptist Children’s Compassion Center.

UTHMPACT TEEN MEMBERS

UthMpact, the youth component of InnerAct Alliance, the drug-free coalition for Polk County, is distributing “UthMpact Facts” posters as part of the Social Norms Campaign in schools and around the community. The posters depict creative designs promoting the positives in Polk Youth Culture with updated factoids based on data reported by sixth throught 12th grade students in the annual Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey. For information about prevention education and social norms messaging available in your child’s school and community, contact InnerAct Alliance at 863-802-0777 and speak with Executive Director Angie Ellison or Social Norms Coordinator James Shiver.

SPCA FLORIDA RECEIVES GRANT

SPCA Florida was awarded an Impact Polk grant of $20,000 from the GiveWell Community Foundation for spay and neuter services of personal Polk County pets. SPCA Florida will offer low cost spay and neuter services for qualifying Polk County residents.
