‘Good Girls’ Duo Plants Suburban Crime Drama at NBC

NBC is adding to its pilot roster with a drama from Good Girls executive producers Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs.
Like Good Girls, the new project from the pair, titled Grosse Pointe Garden Society, will focus on a group of women caught up in a crime — murder, in this case. The show’s logline reads, “Four members of a suburban garden club, all from different walks of life, get caught up in murder and mischief as they struggle to make their conventional lives bloom.”

The pilot is the second at NBC in as many years for Bans and Krebs. In 2023 the network ordered a pilot from the pair for a Murder, She Wrote-esque mystery drama starring Good Girls lead Retta, but it ended up not moving forward. The two first worked together on ABC’s 2016 drama The Family before teaming on Good Girls, which ran for four seasons on NBC and had a successful afterlife on Netflix — so much so that there were (ultimately unsuccessful) talks to move the series there after it ended on the broadcast network.
Universal Television, where Bans and Krebs both have overall deals, is producing the Grosse Pointe Garden Society. Bans and Krebs are writing the pilot together and will executive produce along with Casey Kyber of Bans’ Minnesota Logging Company banner.
Grosse Pointe Garden Society joins the Suits spinoff Suits: LA and a multi-camera comedy starring Reba McEntire on NBC’s pilot roster. The three are among the few traditional pilot orders thus far in what was once a frenzied time of year that saw dozens of projects ordered and cast. As networks and streamers have moved to year-round development and adopted more script-to-series and straight-to-series models, however, pilot production has slowed to a relative trickle.
