Kel Mitchell is “on the road to recovery” after a “frightening” health scare that reportedly sent him to the hospital.

“Grateful for the flood of prayers and positive vibes that surrounded me during a genuinely frightening time,” Mitchell wrote in an Instagram statement. “The scare was real, but so was the support.”

“With the grace of God and the skill of the medical team, I’m not on the road to recovery at home, embraced by the love of my family,” he added. “Your kindness has been a lifeline, and I can’t thank you enough. Much love to each of you.”

TMZ first reported that the actor had been hospitalized after going to the emergency room for an undisclosed illness earlier this week.

The timing of Mitchell’s hospitalization arrived just days before Paramount+ is set to premiere Good Burger 2, a sequel of the actor’s hit 1997 film alongside Kenan Thompson, on Nov. 22.

In the official trailer, Dex (Thompson) is reeling from a failed invention and asks if Ed (Mitchell) could put in a good word for him down at Good Burger, where they both worked as teenagers all those years ago. Despite the time that has passed, they’re just as ridiculous as they were then.

The film will feature appearances from Marsai Martin, Yung Gravy, Liza Koshy, Kai Cenat, Carmen Electra, Nicole Byer, Jillian Bell, Josh Server, Ron Funches, Molly Kearney, Ego Nwodim, Lil Rel Howery, Lori Beth Denberg, Rob Gronkowski, Flula Borg, Matt Friend, and Mark Cuban.
