Goldfinch Entertainment, GSP Combine to Create Goldfinch Studios

Goldfinch Studios – a new development, production, finance, post-production, and VFX business – has been created through the merger of London-based Goldfinch Entertainment and GSP Studios, which is based in the northern English city of York.

Kirsty Bell, previously MD of Goldfinch Entertainment, becomes CEO of Goldfinch Studios, with Alan Latham, formerly managing director of GSP Studios, taking the role of COO and overseeing all studio operations and production.

GSP produced 13 films with a combined budget of £39 million ($51 million) between 2014 and 2016, including “Mad to Be Normal” with David Tennant (“Doctor Who,” “Broadchurch”), and “That Good Night,” starring John Hurt.

Goldfinch Entertainment, meanwhile, has raised more than £75 million over the past four years for titles including Amazon’s “Le Mans: Racing Is Everything,” and “The Eichmann Show” (pictured), starring Martin Freeman.

“When I started Goldfinch Entertainment it was with the backing and help of Alan and GSP,” Bell said. “This move will see us expand a business model here in the U.K. that already has a formidable reputation and, going forward, will become a global player in the independent content creation space.”

Latham added: “This is an opportunity to create something more efficient, bigger and better, with people and businesses with proven track records.”

The newly branded business will be at AFM next week.
