It has also inspired an anime adaptation from Geno Studio (Seasons 1 to 3) and Brain’s Base (Season 4). Shigeaki Kubo directed the film, and Tsutomu Kuroiwa adapted Noda’s manga for a feature-length script. The film had its world premiere in Japan on January 19, 2024. Golden Kamuy is set in the Hokkaido region after the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905). Saichi Sugimoto, a war veteran, joins forces with an Ainu girl named Asirpa to search for the large cache of gold that an Ainu mining group has purportedly found. The Japanese authorities catch the only surviving miner. In desperation, the man tattoos the map to the gold in parts on the skins of his fellow inmates.
Golden Kamuy stars Kento Yamazaki as Saichi Sugimoto and Anna Yamada as Asirpa. The cast also features Gordon Maeda as Hyakunosuke Ogata, Yuma Yamoto as Yoshitake Shiraishi, and Ryohei Otani as Genjiro Tanigaki.
When is Golden Kamuy coming out via streaming?
