Golden Year! Kacey Musgraves Wins Album of the Year at the 2019 ACMs: 'I Truly Appreciate This'

It continues to be a golden year for Kacey Musgraves.

After winning big at the Grammy Awards in February, the singer took home the album of the year award for her record

at the 54th Academy Of Country Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, winning over fellow nominees Dan + Shay, Eric Church, Chris Stapleton and Dierks Bentley.

She took the stage with an effusive, “Oh my gosh, thank you so much,” before saying that sessions for the album were “some of the greatest memories of my entire life.”

“I truly, truly appreciate this, and the chance to share my perspective,” she continued. “Thank you to everyone out there still supporting and buying records. It means everything to me.”

She went on to thank the Academy of Country Music, as well as her band, her crew, and her younger sister Kelly — who designs her album covers.

In an interview with Glamour in March, Musgraves opened up about the pressure to follow Golden Hour with something great.

“It can be freaky, because Golden Hour really resonated with a lot of people and reached far beyond what I ever thought it could do,” she said. “So there can be a worry inside your mind a little bit, as a creative person, thinking about the fact that there’s no way to bank on the muse coming and visiting you again.”
