The Golden Globes Honor Jason Sudeikis as Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Series

A very deserving actor just received one of Hollywood's top honors.
At the 78th annual Golden Globes, Jason Sudeikis took home the statuette for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Series for his role as Ted Lasso in Ted Lasso. (Duh.)
Other nominees included Don Cheadle for Black Monday (played Maurice Monroe), Nicholas Hoult for The Great (played Peter III of Russia), Eugene Levy for Schitt’s Creek (played Johnny Rose) and Ramy Youssef for Ramy (played Ramy Hassan).
Last year, Youssef won the honor for this category, beating out Michael Douglas for The Kominsky Method, Bill Hader for Barry, Ben Platt for The Politician and Paul Rudd for Living With Yourself. Other previous winners include Michael Douglas for The Kominsky Method, Aziz Ansari for Master of None, Donald Glover for Atlanta, Gael García Bernal for Mozart in the Jungle, Jeffrey Tambor for Transparent, Andy Samberg for Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Don Cheadle for House of Lies.
The honor was first awarded at the 19th Golden Globe Awards on March 5, 1962 under the title Best TV Star–Male. Both comedy and drama genres were combined until 1969, when the award was split into two categories.
The 78th annual Golden Globes were hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, who previously helmed the awards show in 2013, 2014 and 2015. However, this is the first time they did it from opposite sides of the country.
Congrats, Sudeikis. You earned it.
