Golden Globes - Aaron Sorkin - Best Screenplay Motion Picture

Golden Globe winner Aaron Sorkin, who won Best Screenplay for a Motion Picture for "The Trial of the Chicago 7" was surrounded by his friends in family the night of his big win. The director and writer knew this story was timely but the narrative became even more important throughout the year of 2020 watching protestors be subjected to police violence and brutality. "We thought the film was plenty relevant last winter when we were making it," Sorkin said. "We didn't need it to get more relevant but it did in May with the police killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. And protestors taking to the streets in cities, all across the country, and in a number of those protestors being met by riot clubs and tear gas. And, of course, on January 6th Donald Trump standing up and doing exactly what the Chicago 7 were on trial for doing."
