Golden Globe Snubs and Surprises: 'Mad Max: Fury Road,' Johnny Depp, and More

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 73rd annual Golden Globe nominations were announced Thursday morning, and there were a ton of snubs and surprises in the film categories.

Surprise! Mad Max: Fury Road scored nominations for both Best Motion Picture, Comedy and Best Director. This year, there were actual comedies nominated for Best Comedy, including Trainwreck and Spy, as well as nominations for their respective lead actresses, Amy Schumer and Melissa McCarthy.

Meanwhile, Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Boston gangster Whitey Bulger in Black Mass, may have been touted as the best in his career, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough for voters to nominate him for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama. Also snubbed: Tom Hanks, Michael Keaton, and Rachel McAdams, just to name a few.
