All Golden Buzzers on ‘AGT’ through the years: Gabriel Henrique joins the list

The confetti. The tears. The hugs. Admit it: you just can’t get enough of those emotional Golden Buzzer moments on “America’s Got Talent” … and neither can we. This twist was first introduced on the American version of the worldwide talent competition in Season 10, and it’s been an integral part of NBC’s reality TV show ever since.

Throughout the auditions, the four “AGT” judges (and the host as of Season 11) get to press the Golden Buzzer for a single act that moves them emotionally, which sends the performer straight through to the live shows. During the now-defunct Judge Cuts round, guest panelists are allowed to push the button as well for their favorite act. At the start of Season 18, Simon Cowell announced that there’d be a new audience-voted buzzer for an act that wows the crowd. The current 18th season has so far welcomed six talented acts to the list. They are:

*Chorale group Mzansi Youth Choir, who received the first-ever audience Golden Buzzer thanks to their Nightbirde-inspired audition.

*Singer/pianist Putri Ariani, a 17-year-old blind phenom from Indonesia who wowed Simon.

*Drummers Chioma & The Atlanta Drum Academy, talented tykes with lots of energy who received their buzzer from Terry.

*Hypnotic dance group Murmuration, a 65-person in sync act from France who earned Howie’s unwavering support.

*Blind and autistic singer Lavender Darcangelo, who belted out “Out Here on My Own” and impressed Heidi.

*Brazilian singer Gabriel Henrique, whose cover of “Run to You” prompted Sofia to slam her hand on her button.

Historically, Golden Buzzer performers tend to have an advantage in the all-important live shows. After all, since the twist was created in Season 10, a whopping six such acts have ended up winning the show: ventriloquist Paul Zerdin in Season 10, singer-ukuleleist Grace VanderWaal in Season 11, singing ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer in Season 12, singer Kodi Lee in Season 14, spoken word artist Brandon Leake in Season 15 and dance crew Mayyas in Season 17.
