Golden buzzer for Britain’s Got Talent dance group
A young performer said he had "one of the best days of my life" after his dance group received the golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent.
Samuel, 15, from Ipswich, Suffolk, is a member of the Phoenix Boys, and he will be taking part in the show's semi-finals following the group's performance on Saturday night’s episode.
Bruno Tonioli hit the golden buzzer so hard that he smashed it, and told the boys that they reminded him of being a young male dancer.
Samuel told BBC Radio Suffolk the audition for the ITV show had taken place in January, but he "hadn't been able to tell a soul" until now.
"It was one of the best days of my life, so surreal," he told the BBC following the London Palladium performance episode.
"It was very different to how I expected but just so amazing being on stage."
'Do it for love'
The Phoenix Boys has members living across the UK, which meant the group were only able to rehearse together three times before the audition.
Tonioli took to the stage to congratulate the boys, he said: “I know how hard it is, what you do.
"People don’t really understand how hard it is to succeed as a dancer. The work that goes into it, the passion. And you literally do it for nothing. You do it for love. And I felt that.”
He added: “What really touches people is when you perform from the heart. It’s the truth of your performance. That’s what remains in people’s mind."
Samuel will appear in the semi-finals on ITV between 27 May and 30 May.
