ABC announced its new "Golden Bachelorette," and she’s ready to find The One.

On Tuesday, May 14, two days after Mother’s Day, the network named Joan Vassos as the reality show’s leading lady.

The reality dating competition, which is a spin-off of ABC’s “The Golden Bachelor” with Gerry Turner of Indiana, will air Wednesday nights in fall 2024.

Like other Bachelor Nation shows, “The Golden Bachelorette” will be hosted by Jesse Palmer, a former quarterback for the University of Florida Gators and Food Network personality. Filming already is in place for “The Bachelorette” with Jenn Tran of Miami.

Who is Joan Vassos of ‘The Golden Bachelor?’

Fans may remember Joan Vassos as one of the women vying for the heart of Gerry Turner, the world's first "Golden Bachelor.” Turner gave his final rose to Theresa Nist of New Jersey, and the pair married in an ABC TV special before ultimately getting a divorce months later.

Like “The Golden Bachelor,” contestants looking for a shot at love with Vassos will be in their "golden years." In the inaugural show with Turner, 22 women competed for his heart, including two contestants from Florida.

Vassos went home early on in the competition to help care for her daughter and newborn grandchild.

Is Jesse Palmer still host of ‘Bachelor’ shows?

Jesse Palmer, the former Florida Gators football player and Bachelor alumni, is returning to host "The Bachelorette” with Jenn Tran. He also hosted “The Golden Bachelor” and “officiated” at the Golden Wedding.

Palmer became the permanent host of the franchise in 2021, replacing Chris Harrison after he was fired from the show. The Canadian native previously held the title role as the bachelor on the fifth season of the reality television series in 2004.

Besides hosting the hit reality franchise, Palmer has spawned a successful sports commentary career for FOX, ESPN and the NFL Network. The former professional football player also is a contributor to ABC's Good Morning America and hosts the Holiday Baking Championship on Food Network.
