Golden Bachelor no more: Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist get hitched.

UPDATE: On April 12, 2024, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced that they are divorcing.

He’s married now.

Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist tied the knot Thursday night during a live broadcast on ABC. before a plethora of Bachelor Nation alums at La Quinta Resort & Club in Palms Springs, California.

Who showed up at the wedding?

It was like another reunion for the cast of “The Golden Bachelor” with a couple of the ladies from the first season playing major roles in the production.

Kris Jenner look-alike Susan Noles ended up marrying Turner, by officiating the wedding.

Kathy “Zip it” Swarts shared red carpet hosting duties with Charity Lawson of ”The Bachelorette,” chatting it up with Edith Aguirre, Joan Vassos,  April Kirkwood and Faith Martin. Ellen Goltzer showed up wearing the earrings Turner gifted her on the show and announced. Natasha Hardee,  too sported jewelry that nodded to her appearance on the show — mini chair earrings – and said she approved of the seating situation at the wedding.

Nancy Hulkower, a native of Warsaw, Indiana, and Patty James were spotted.

And Runner-up Leslie Fhima, who had an intense interaction with Turner on the last episode of the season, walked the carpet. The 64-year-old fitness instructor had some health issues days before the event; and was telling Swarts about showing up to celebrate love when Warsaw, Indiana, native Ben Higgins crashed the interview.

Higgins was the lead on the 20th season of “The Bachelor.”

Other Bachelor Nation alum on site included Trista and Ryan Sutter, from the first season of “The Bachelorette;” Molly and Jason Mesnick, from “The Bachelor” season 13; and season 12 "The Bachelorette" star Wells Adams, who served as bartender — a role he's splayed on multiple seasons of “Bachelor in Paradise."

Joey Graziadei, the lead of the upcoming “The Bachelor” season that starts Jan. 22, also showed up to salute the bride and groom.

The dress and the rings

The show opened with video of Turner, 72, and Nist, 70, sharing "I love yous" before going on to show them meeting with a wedding planner.

“I like just watching her when she doesn’t even know I’m watching because she does these cute little things,”  he said.

“I'm thrilled Theresa is going to be finally able to get the wedding of her dreams.”

Imagine designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka walking you through the selection of your wedding dress. Nist had that good fortune.

Nist was married for 42 years to her high school sweetheart, William “Bill” Nist. She had only two days to plan that wedding, which took place in a basement. Her husband died in 2014.

At the bridal shop, were Noles, Swarts, Nist’s daughter and daughter-in-law and Turner’s daughters were on hand to ooh and aww.

Meanwhile, Turner was shown selecting wedding bands from Neil Lane.

How wild was Theresa Nist’s bachelorette party?

The affair shown in the pre-taped package seemed pretty tame initially, with Noles, Goltzer, Martin and Sanda Mason sitting with Theresa on a couch. Then Nist presented her guests with spicy boudoir photo sessions. The ladies later got handsy with some Chippendale dancers. Mason brought one of them, Shyllon Melatti, to the wedding.

What were Gerry Turner’s wedding vows?

Turner’s vows elicited a “Wow!” from Noles.

Here’s what he said:

“Theresa, when I think of all the decisions that we've made to be here in this position tonight I know the hand of God and the winds of fate have ordained this moment. From the first sip of chocolate shake to the last taste of Costa Rican coffee, I learned that you are the woman I can't live without. I learned that you make me calm with the touch of your hand. I learned that you make me laugh with the easy comfort of a long-lost spring. I learned that you're a strong and independent woman and your strength gives me joy. I've learned that you make me a better person; a better man because of your sensitivity and your soft voice.

And so Theresa, I know I found a full partner to share all of life’s experiences that are thrown at us. So Theresa I make you this promise: I promise that if you're my partner in life, I will make you the happiest woman on earth.

I promise to choose you every day as the one I love and never take your heart for granted. I promise to shout the ‘I love you’s’ by day and whisper them softly at night. I promise to keep you safe. And I promise to make you feel confident in difficult times and abundantly joyful in great times. And I promise in those dark pillow talk moments, when silence deafens, to share my innermost thoughts with you; and to listen to yours tenderly and carefully because we have a trust that cannot be broken. I also promise to keep track of your reading glasses which you lose all the time, and apparently some of your shoes now.

And I promise these things with the 1,000% confidence that I had in Costa Rica when I asked you to marry me; because I remember it wasn't my ear that you whispered in when you said the ‘I love you's’ but my very soul. It wasn't my lips you kissed to clear the frosting; but it was my soul. You're the love that came silently and without warning. You were authentic. Theresa you have my heart and I have yours.”

Where will the former Golden Bachelor and his new bride live?

Sadly, it seems that Indiana can’t lay claim to being the home of the first golden couple.

Turner and his wife of more than 40 years, Toni, moved to their dream home in Hudson, Indiana, in 2017. She died of an infection shortly after.

Nist is from Shrewsbury, New Jersey.

During a December appearance on “Live with Kelly & Mark,” Turner said they’d considered living in Charleston, South Carolina, but now New Jersey is in the mix as an option for their new home.

The Bachelor Nation is growing

In 27 seasons of "The Bachelor," only one lead has married a winning contestant. Two others married the runners-up from their seasons. Zach Shallcross from Season 27, which ended in March, remains engaged to that season's winner, Kaity Biggar.

Meanwhile, spinoff "The Bachelorette" has resulted in five marriages over 20 seasons. But Rachel Lindsay and her choice Bryan Abasolo are headed for divorce, with a filing this week.

The "Bachelor in Paradise," which brings together former contestants from multiple seasons of both shows at tropical locales, has produced 10 marriages over nine seasons.

The number of married couples will grow soon. Before the ceremony, “The Bachelorette” season 20 contestant Brayden Bowers proposed to Christina Mandrell, a contestant on season 27 of “The Bachelor.” Their relationship was revealed in the December 2023 ”Bachelor in Paradise” finale, after the couple connected on social media.

Jesse Palmer, host of all things “Bachelor” told the viewing audience that Bowers got the approval of Turner and Nist before popping the question.

And right after the wedding, “The Bachelorette” lead Charity Lawson and her fiance, Dotun Olubeko on camera announced they will wed in Fall 2025.

All this was happening as Palmer’s wife was preparing to deliver their first child.

Who will be 'The Golden Bachelorette'?

While ABC has encouraged folks to apply at abc.com/casting for another season of the senior show, the network has yet to announce a female-led spinoff.
