Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner's wedding cake couldn't have been more on theme.

The Golden Bachelor stars, who tied the knot in a live, televised ceremony in California on Thursday night, served a dessert that was, of course, gold. The four-tier wedding cake was entirely covered with edible gold leaf. It sat on top of a gold cake stand and was topped with white florals.

Turner, 72, and Nist, 70, said "I do" at the La Quinta Resort and Club in La Quinta, California. The show's fan favorite Susan Noles officiated the nuptials.

Nist's daughter Jen Woolston, who was her maid of honor, shared a peek at the cake during the reception — where guests like Dean UnglertCaelynn Miller-KeyesJade Roper Tolbert and Tanner Tolbert, Wells Adams, Tayshia AdamsRaven Gates and Adam Gottschalk, and new Bachelor Joey Graziadei danced all night.

Woolsten also showed off the event's menu. After cocktail hour, family and friends were served dishes like caprese salad, and a choice of filet mignon, herb-crusted Alaskan halibut, or eggplant parmesan.

The night's signature drinks were just as festive — with cheeky names. The list included: the Turner Her into a Mrs, a vodka cranberry with a twist of lime; the Birthday Suit, a spicy margarita; The Final Rose; an old fashioned; and the One Headlight, a Prosecco and elderflower cocktail.

Before their wedding, Turner and Nist began their day with a PEOPLE cover story. There, Turner told PEOPLE that the cake was an important part of the wedding for him.

“We were completely in lockstep on the choices,” he said of the food options. “I think there's something for everyone. I'll just be in a hurry to get through dinner to get to the cake!”

They served two flavors. Turner's choice was vanilla with chocolate mousse and cappuccino cream frosting, while Nist went for raspberry and lemon flavors.

Since Turner's dad, 92-year-old Everett, couldn't travel from Indiana to California for the wedding because of his health, he came up with a backup plan.

“I made arrangements with a baker in Fort Wayne to take a small replica of the wedding cake to his home address the night of the wedding,” Turner said ahead of the wedding. “He has had watch parties every Thursday, and so we'll take a little bit of the wedding to him.”

This was a second wedding for both stars. Nist first married William “Billy” Nist when she was 18 before he was drafted into the Vietnam War, and the pair was married for more than 42 years before he died in 2014. Turner was also married to his first spouse, high school sweetheart Toni Turner, for more than four decades before she died in 2017. During the The Golden Bachelor season, Nist and Turner bonded over their experiences with grief as well as their hopeful outlooks on life.
