Get yourself prepped, it's time to make some Hanky Pankies.

You can run and tell this: Goetta Hanky Panky is the most Cincinnati gameday food imaginable. Or is it called Hanky Panks? Or ... Pankies? (We need to decide on a standard, folks, you can vote on that below.)

Haven't heard of the "goetta panks" yet? Well, you have now! And this dish is more Cincinnati than a deep-seated hatred for the San Francisco 49ers. (Two times.)

Sure, the standard ol' Hanky dish is a staple at any Cincinnati area celebration, but more and more folks are coming around to trying the non-traditional goetta as a protein substitute.

The unofficial goetta king Glier's Goetta posted their own recipe for the mashup on their Facebook page in 2019. Maybe we weren't ready then ... but we darn sure are now.

Check out their recipe, add your own spin, watch it disappear. Let's get cookin!

Instructions:

Brown the goetta, then the hamburger, drain well and return to pan. Add Velveeta cheese, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon oregano and 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce. Add the milk a bit at a time to reach the desired thickness.

Spread the cheese mixture on the pumpernickel bread, then bake at 425 for 5 minutes, until bread is toasted and topping is bubbling and slightly browned.

Just like the original, it might not look the most appetizing, but we know you can taste it through the screen.
