Godzilla vs Kong trailer hints at Kong's telepathic powers

Godzilla vs Kong has seemed like it's been in the making for a long, long time. That's because, well, it has.
The seemingly-eternal wait for a morsel of footage from the upcoming fourth film in Legendary's MonsterVerse, however, came to an end with the long-anticipated trailer for Godzilla Vs Kong.
The trailer certainly whets the appetite for the movie, which will hit cinemas and HBO Max on March 26. And as you might expect, there are a few little details in it that may offer some clues as to what the movie could include.
There's already a theory about Godzilla and Mechagodzilla, but this one is about Kong and the potential for his telepathic powers to make themselves known in the film. The trailer introduces Jia (Kaylee Hottle), an orphaned girl who Ilene Andrews (Rebecca Hall) says she vowed to protect.
But more importantly, so did Kong, and the two share a special bond that involves some kind of non-verbal communication. So the obvious leap is telepathy, which is actually less bizarre than it sounds.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters' post-credits text features "redacted" reports along with the unredacted credits themselves. They explain that ancient humans "may have developed methods of telepathic communication with the creatures."
In Kong: Skull Island the Iwi tribe relies on Kong to keep them safe from the Island's predators: Skullcrawlers. There are similarities between Jia's clothing in the trailer and those the Iwi tribespeople wear in the 2017 King Kong movie, so there's some speculation that she may be an orphaned member of the tribe to whom Kong has taken a special liking.
In addition, while not canonically linked to the current MonsterVerse, in one of the original Toho Godzilla eras, the Heisei era to be precise (1984-1995), Miki Saegusa (Megumi Odaka) could hear Godzilla’s thoughts. If we believe our other theory, that Mechagodzilla is the one sending Godzilla on a rampage, we would seem to be entering into more cerebral sci-fi themes.
Godzilla Vs Kong's synopsis reads: "In a new world where man and monster now coexist, Monarch must lead the way to a prosperous future alongside the Titans, keeping humanity in check. However, rival factions that want to manipulate the Titans for war begin to rise under the guise of a nefarious conspiracy, threatening to wipe out all life on the planet.
"Meanwhile, on Skull Island, strange seismic activity draws the attention of Godzilla and Kong alike." If the film wants to explore the relationship between Titans and humans, a possible telepathic connection between Kong and Godzilla, and any other Titans that are preparing to rear their giant monstrous heads, would certainly make this task all the more interesting.
There is always a chance that the movie may not go to straight-forward telepathy, but perhaps to an emotional one, something that is easier to not explain. After all, if Tenet is anything to go by, sometimes 'just feel it' isn't a great primer for audiences when it comes to sci-fi themes.
While this is speculative, the trailer and synopsis do explicitly state there's an ephemeral connection between Kong and Jia. Whether it turns out to be telepathy or not remains to be seen.
Godzilla vs Kong is coming soon to the UK and will be released in cinemas and on HBO Max on March 26 in the US.
