Valley's Edge Steak & Seafood's recent "Titanic" themed dinners were so popular, now the restaurant at MGM Northfield Park is hosting a "Director's Cut" wine dinner Wednesday inspired by "The Godfather."

The menu, which takes culinary cues from the iconic 1972 film, also will feature wines from the Francis Ford Coppola Winery with each of its courses.

Executive Chef Chris Poplin has infused a citrus element throughout the menu as a nod to the symbolism of oranges throughout the film. And, of course, the meal will end with cannoli.

That's a reference to the famous line by character Peter Clemenza after his henchman Rocco Lampone has killed Paulie Gatto in a car in the countryside.

"Leave the gun. Take the cannoli," Clemenza tells Lampone of the pastries he promised to take home to his wife.

The dinner will start at 7 p.m. To get into "The Godfather" spirit, guests are welcome to wear 1940s gangster attire to this first-time event.

First course will be tomato-braised beef arancini with mandarin mizuna salad and toasted walnuts, paired with a 2021 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Second course is fennel salad with grapefruit, arugula and ginger dressing, accompanied by a 2022 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir.

Third course is pan-seared bronzino with broccoli rabe, tapenade and tomato confit, paired with 2022 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. Fourth course is veal marsala with cremini, pappardelle pasta and orange-poached carrots. It will be paired with 2021 Alexander Valley Cinema Red Wine Blend.

The feast will end with Grand Marnier cannoli with pistachio cream, whipped cream and fresh berries, accompanied by a 2021 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel.

Cost is $95 for the full dinner with wine or $65 for food only. The restaurant is located at 10777 Northfield Road. Call 330-908-7625 or see mgmnorthfieldpark.com for reservations.
