Goblin Actor Gong Yoo Is an AI In Upcoming Korean Movie Wonderland

One of the popular South Korean actors, Gong Yoo, is going to make an appearance in the upcoming star-studded movie Wonderland. This romance Sci-Fi drama will feature Bae Suzy, Tang Wei, Park Bo-Gum, Jung Yu-Mi, Choi Woo-Shik, and others in important roles.

The storyline of the movie revolves around people who take up the Wonderland service to connect with their long-lost (deceased) loved ones through video calls. The service providers create their images with the help of artificial intelligence.

Upcoming Korean movie Wonderland adds Gong Yoo to cast

Recently, the movie added Gong Yoo to the star cast in a pivotal role. He will be playing AI Sung Joon in the movie, who will further connect with Wonderland’s service providers to look out for AI Bai Li (Tang Wei). Bai Li is created by Wonderland’s artificial intelligence as an archaeologist. As reported in Osen, in an interview, Tang Wei opened up about the Goblin actor. She said, “I didn’t feel a language barrier thanks to Gong Yoo’s English skills. I had such an enjoyable time while filming, and I felt a sense of brotherhood.”

The director of the movie, Kim Tae-Yong, also talked about the Goblin actor’s character. He said, “Since he is an AI character that carries out the task of managing the AI within Wonderland while also being a friend, he needed to be both cool yet warm, and there was no other actor like Gong Yoo [for the role]. He is warmhearted and thoughtful, and he is an actor with romantic tension.”

Gong Yoo has a massive fandom, and he has been proving his versatility as an actor in his past projects. He received a lot of appreciation for his performances in movies like Silenced, Train to Busan, and other K-dramas. Now, the viewers are excited to see the actor once again in the upcoming movie. He was last seen in the globally acclaimed drama Squid Game.

Wonderland is going to hit theaters on June 5, 2024.
