Global Citizen: The World on Stage concert to precede Global Citizen Festival

Fans of the Global Citizen Festival now have an additional event to get excited about.

Tom Morello (Prophets of Rage) and Jon Batiste (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert) will lead Global Citizen: The World on Stage, the organization announced today.

Global Citizen: The World on Stage will precede this year’s Global Citizen Festival. The event will bring together musicians, celebrities, and world leaders in an effort to enact major policy commitments toward the issues of girls’ and women’s equality, education, health, water and sanitation, environment, finance and innovation, and food and hunger.

Performers include Tom Morello, Jon Batiste and Stay Human, Regina Spektor, Aloe Blacc & Maya Jupiter, Moxie Raia, and The Kenyan Boys Choir. Speakers include Forest Whitaker, Cecily Strong, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister of The Netherlands Mark Rutte, Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, Nigerian Minister of Environment Amina Mohammed, and Yazidi human rights campaigner Nadia Murad.

The event will take place at NYU’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, September 22. The Global Citizen Festival arrives at the Great Lawn in New York’s Central Park on Sept. 24
