Glenn Close Proved That 77 Never Looked So Chic in a Red Carpet Rewear From 2019

For a long time in Hollywood, the fashion rule was to wear an ensemble once and never repeat it at a major event again. In an era of sustainable style, that premise now seems silly and Glenn Close is proving that you can wear an epic outfit more than once.
The 77-year-old actress turned heads at the Ralph Lauren Fall/Holiday 2024 fashion show in New York City on Monday. She gave new life to the gorgeous white pantsuit she first wore to the 2019 SAG Awards — what’s old is new again. The chic wardrobe spent five years in her closet before she dusted it off and gave it a fresh look. It proves that classic silhouettes never go out of style.

Close gave her Instagram followers a bit of insight about the Ralph Lauren suit while in the car on the way to the event. “I’m very, very proud to be rewearing this suit I wore five years ago at the SAG Awards, beautiful, beautiful, classic Ralph Lauren suit, but this one happens to be covered in Swarovski crystals,” she shared in a video. “‘So I feel like a million bucks, and I’m going to retire this suit to my costume collection after this.” The suit was getting one last show-stopping moment in the spotlight, and we love Close for this!
She paired the ensemble with her stylishly short, gray hair, diamond earrings, and sky-high silver heels. The Fatal Attraction star was a bit nervous about walking the red carpet in such death-defying shoes. “I’m on my way to this lovely Ralph Lauren event, and I just have to say, I do not know how I’ll get down the red carpet in these shoes,” Close said as she revealed her silver sandals. “I haven’t worn shoes like this since the first time I went to the Met Ball.” Like most of us, Close has been in “sneakers and boots” for the past few years — we don’t blame her for being nervous!
The suit now has two blissful memories for her because she spent the day with high-powered women, including Jessica Chastain, at the Ralph Lauren runway show, and in 2019, she won a SAG Award for her work in The Wife. Close made this suit extra special, and we appreciate the red carpet rewear — as well as the dishy insight about her wardrobe on the way to the event.
