'Glee' Stars Are Making Us Reach for Tissues as They Release New Music to Honor Their Late Co-Star Naya Rivera

If you were ever a fan of Glee, then you know how talented the late Naya Rivera was. The actress, who sadly passed away at age 33 back in 2020, commanded the screen, from her character Santana’s sassiest moments to her heartbreaking ballads.

And while we can always enjoy her talent by rewatching an episode of the show, or listening to her covers on Spotify, her former co-stars have taken her legacy one step further. This week, Glee alums Amber Riley, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Heather Morris, Vanessa Lengies and Ashley Fink announced they worked together to complete a song left unfinished by Rivera before her passing.

“We got to spend the day together with Naya’s voice blasting through the speakers, surrounded by that voice!” Riley and McHale wrote in a joint post on Instagram. “Ugh, her voice. There’s just nothing better.”

Together, the actors finished Rivera’s song titled “Prayer for the Broken.” “We wanted to handle “Prayer For The Broken” with care, making sure not 1 vocal of Naya’s was touched,” the caption continued. “When @msamberpriley went into the booth and sang a harmony in the second verse we all stopped and looked at each other – hearing them together again, for a brief moment the smiles we’d slapped on to get through the day broke.” On the show, Rivera’s Santana and Riley’s Mercedes shared some iconic duets together including “The Boy Is Mine” and “River Deep, Mountain High.”

“The world is a better place because Naya was in it and we all got to bear witness to her incredible gifts,” the caption continued.

“Thank you to @isaachasson1 & @lindyrobbins123 who made such an incredible song and have agreed to donate all of their proceeds to @alexandriahousela,” they added. “May her legacy live on in all of us and each time you blast her music, watch a scene, or share a memory ♥️ Merry Snixxmas!”

In the comments, fans of Rivera and the iconic show are seen getting emotional over the news. “Oh my lil Gleek heart is sooo full right now🥹,” wrote one commenter. “This makes me so happy it is beyond beautiful the way you guys all come together just to celebrate love and ur love for naya,” wrote another. “

“Thank you for doing this and the beautiful tributes to Naya year after year,” commented another user. “I still listen to her Glee covers on a regular basis but it’s so good to hear her voice on something new 🥺 Glee family forever, we miss you Naya ❤️.” What a beautiful tribute!
