'Glee' star Samantha Ware reacts to Lea Michele's apology: 'She hasn't learned anything'

After accusing Lea Michele of committing "traumatic microaggressions" toward her while filming "Glee," Samantha Ware is elaborating on her experiences with the actress.

In an interview with Variety, Ware, who appeared on the sixth and final season of the Fox musical series in 2015, discussed Michele's apology and if she considers the Broadway veteran to be racist.

USA TODAY has reached out to Michele's rep for comment.

On June 1, Ware called out Michele publicly for her behavior on "Glee." In response to Michele's tweet using the #BlackLiveMatter hashtag, Ware wrote that Michele made her first television job "A LIVING HELL."

"I BELIEVE YOU TOLD EVERYONE THAT IF TOU HAD THE OPPORTUNITY YOU WOULD '(expletive) IN MY WIG!'" Ware continued. "AMONGST OTHER TRAUMATIC MICROAGRESSIONS THAT MADE ME QUESTION A CAREER IN HOLLYWOOD."

Ware gave more context about this incident to Variety.

“She had an issue because I had laughed (when watching a scene) and that’s when the ‘I’m going to (expletive) in your wig’ comment happened,” Ware said. “Some chuckled and some gasped. It was mortifying. The whole point was for her to embarrass me. People heard her, but no one was going to stand up to her."

According to Ware, even if Michele didn't intend this comment to be racist, it was still racially charged, because "black women historically are known for their wigs."

Michele broke her silence about Ware's tweet in an Instagram post on June 3.

"I listened to these criticisms and I am learning and while I am very sorry, I will be better in the future from this experience," Michele, wrote. "The responses I received to what I posted have made me also focus specifically on how my own behavior towards fellow cast members was perceived by them."

For Ware, Michele's apology rang hollow.

"All that her apology did was affirm that she hasn’t learned anything," Ware wrote, noting that people should understand what #BlackLivesMatter means before tweeting it. "Am I calling Lea a racist? No. Does Lea have racist tendencies? I think Lea suffers from a symptom of living in this world in an industry that is tailored to white people.”

This wasn't the only time Michele made rude comments, said Ware, noting that Michele's unfriendly attitude showed itself "from day one."

“There was nothing gradual about it," Ware said. "As soon as she decided that she didn’t like me, it was very evident."

After Ware's first performance on the show, "that’s when it started – the silent treatment, the stare-downs, the looks, the comments under her breath, the weird passive aggressiveness," she added. "It all built up.”

Though she never officially reported Michele's behavior to the network or studio, Ware said others on set were familiar with how Michele treated people.

“Lea’s actions were nothing new, so I guess since it was such a common thing, my case didn’t seem like that big of a deal,” she said. “I remember the first day I actually spoke up and unfortunately no one did anything. They just shrugged it off, like ‘That’s her.’ No one was stopping these things, which is an issue because the environment was helping perpetuate this abuse.”

On one occasion, Ware said, Michele threatened to have her fired. The two actresses were filming a scene together, when Michele thought Ware was "being disrespectful to her." Nobody else on set voiced any issues with Ware about the scene, including the director.

"She waited until the scene was over and she stopped in the middle of the stage and did a ‘come here’ gesture, like how a mother does to their child,” Ware said. “I said ‘no,’ and that’s when she decided to threaten my job and said she would call Ryan Murphy in to come and fire me."

Ware continued: “It’s scary. For the full week, I was thinking I’m probably going to get an email and I might not be able to do the last three episodes, or I might not be able to sing another song.”

Michele's hostile behavior didn't stop after this threat.

"When I tried to speak up for myself, she told me to shut my mouth. She said I don’t deserve to have that job,” Ware said. “She talked about how she has reign. And here’s the thing: I completely understood that, and I was ready to be like, ‘This is your show. I’m not here to be disrespectful.’ But at that point, we were already past the respect and she was just abusing her power."
