Three Glee alumni are opening up about their struggles to land gigs after the series.

On the May 1 episode of Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz’s And That’s What You REALLY Missed podcast, McHale, 35, and Ushkowitz, 38, were joined by former costar Becca Tobin as they discussed the opportunities — or lack thereof — that came after their stint as Artie Abrams, Tina Cohen-Chang and Kitty Wilde, respectively.

After the series concluded in 2015, Tobin, 38 recalled, “Anything I did on the internet or social media, there was a slew of people telling me I was no longer relevant. … I remember those people put a hex on me, and I remember thinking, ‘They’re right. It’s been six months. Where is my next hit show?’”

“You’ve got in your own way,” Ushkowitz said, to which Tobin agreed, “I was like, they’re right. I’m so irrelevant. I haven’t been on TV in six months.”

McHale reasoned that because everyone associated them “so hard” with their Glee personas, a majority of the main Glee cast hasn’t done work “outside of the Ryan Murphy world."

For that reason, Tobin admitted that although she is a “jealous b----,” she cheers on her former Glee castmates whenever they land a new job.

“When it comes to us, I am like, I will not die until I see all of us back doing something that we love,” the actress said.

The three stars aren’t the only ones who have recently reminisced on the musical comedy-drama. The same day the podcast episode premiered, Jacob Artist — who played Jake Puckerman — posted a TikTok to Taylor Swift’s “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” from her 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department. His slideshow, which included a current selfie and shots of Will Schuester (portrayed by Matthew Morrison), was backtracked by the line, “You wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me.”

Amber Riley, who played Mercedes Jones since season 1, joked to PEOPLE in March that Glee “was like bootcamp.” Still, she looks back at her six years on the show fondly.

"It was the thing that catapulted my career. Nobody would know who Amber Riley was — well, I don't know that, but I'm just saying as of now, you guys wouldn't know who I am if it was not for Glee, you know what I'm saying?" she told PEOPLE.

Glee is streaming in full on Disney+ and Hulu.
