Paramount's panel at CinemaCon centered heavily on the highly anticipated sequel from Ridley Scott, which serves as a follow-up to his 2000 film Gladiator.

Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Joseph Quinn, and Pedro Pascal lead Gladiator 2, a film Ridley Scott says "is possibly even more extraordinary than the first".

During the panel, the studio debuted five minutes of unfinished footage, as per Discussing Film, who revealed the reel began with scenes from Gladiator before introducing the sequel through Paul Mescal's character, now 24 years in the future.

Mescal's character, Lucius, is a renounced nobleman entering the arena, where Denzel Washington serves as his sponsor and coach.

Audiences also got a glimpse of Pedro Pascal in action, reportedly battling opposite Paul Mescal, with Joseph Quinn and Connie Nielsen also getting their moments to shine.

Discussing Film also revealed that the arena was full of nasty surprises, including a three-headed dog, baboons and a giant rhino.

Critics couldn't wait to share their reactions, saying the film "looks like a high stakes, bloody brawl" and "Epic doesn't even cover it".

Gladiator 2 is expected in theaters on November 22, 2024.
