Season 3 of 'Girls5eva' premieres March 14 on Netflix

It's comeback season for the Girls5eva ladies!

Netflix released the first trailer for the upcoming third season of the Tina Fey-produced comedy on Thursday, marking the show's big return following its cancellation at Peacock as well as a major turn for the series' central girl group.

In the new season, the members of the late '90s girl group — Dawn (Sara Bareilles), Wickie (Renée Elise Goldsberry), Summer (Busy Philipps) and Gloria (Paula Pell) — have reunited and recorded a new album titled Returnity. Now, they're looking into launching a comeback tour. But without a plan in sight, the ladies prepare to embark upon the great unknown, piling into a van and hitting the road to promote their album and get back on top.

Gearing up for what's to come, Dawn tells her bandmates that they "booked a gig" on The Tonight Show — and they couldn't be more excited. "Girls5eva is back!" adds Wickie.

But to make this next phase a splash, the ladies soon realize that they "need to do something big to get noticed." Summer's one idea was to graffiti a penis onto a rival boy band's poster, though this effort proved to be a failure since it was a moving advertisement.

Still, the girls aren't letting anything stop them from succeeding, with Wickie saying they're going to "the top." The gang is also in full belief that "this is going to be the biggest comeback in pop music history," occurring well after what Dawn notes were some "regrettable swings" back in the day.

"We are four women with greatness in us," says Dawn. "We are proof that it is never too late to follow your dreams."

Fortunately, the world sees that greatness, too. Following a big performance, Wickie declares that the audience "ate us up," adding, "I haven't gotten that level of applause since I agreed to leave an airplane."

"Four grown ladies trying to be popstars," Gloria concludes. "Strap in!"

Girls5eva initially made its debut on Peacock in May 2021. Although the streamer canceled the show a month after its second season aired in June 2022, Netflix revived the series that October.

John Lutz, John Early, Ingrid Michaelson, Richard Kind, Mario Lopez, Kit Hoover and Catherine Cohen are also set to appear in the six-episode third season.
