Back in October, Justin Timberlake was accused of using a blaccent when greeting Ginuwine in the early 2000s. According to Britney Spears’ memoir, Timberlake exclaimed, “‘Oh yeahhhh. Fo’ shizz. Fo’ shizz. Ginuwineeee, what’s up homie?’” The “Differences” crooner, however, doesn’t recall that particular exchange, but revealed what his reaction would’ve been.

“I would have probably looked at him very weird if he did that like she said,” Ginuwine told Billboard. “I just don’t remember that, but I remember him [Timberlake] being a cool dude and me kicking it down there in Florida with [*NSYNC’s] producer at one time.”

Spears claimed that Timberlake and his *NSYNC bandmates “tried too hard to fit in” with Black artists during their rise. In The Woman In Me, Spears wrote, “[Justin’s] band *NSYNC was what people back then called ‘so pimp.’ They were white boys, but they loved Hip-Hop. To me, that’s what separated them from the Backstreet Boys, who seemed very consciously to position themselves as a white group. [But] *NSYNC hung out with Black artists.”

Ginuwine’s reaction to the alleged interaction surfaced during his sit-down with Billboard regarding his elimination from The Masked Singer. The 53-year-old was disguised as the Husky this season. Despite not having a choice with the costume, he felt it described him perfectly.

“Right off the bat I could relate it to who I am: an alpha male, a go-getter and just focused on whatever it is that I try. So that was the one that suited me perfectly,” Ginuwine explained.

Being a natural competitor, he tried to win, but revealed that certain obstacles like his asthma prevented him from giving his best vocal performance.

The TGT member noted, “It was real hot and very uncomfortable. I had fun, but the only reason I felt like I didn’t make it as far as I possibly could have was because of the mask […] I have asthma, so it dried me out and I couldn’t sing as well as I usually do. I was hoarse a whole lot. If you came to one of my concerts, you would definitely see a big difference, but I have no regrets. I’m glad I did it.”
