Ginnifer Goodwin to Star Opposite Eliza Coupe in Fox Comedy Pilot ‘Pivoting’
Ginnifer Goodwin has been cast in the Fox comedy pilot “Pivoting,” joining Eliza Coupe in taking on one of the potential series’ three leading roles, TheWrap has learned.
The half-hour, single-camera comedy comes from writer Liz Astrof and follows three women after the death of their childhood best friend, according to the logline: “Faced with the reality that life is short, in desperate attempts to find happiness, they make a series of impulsive, ill-advised and self-indulgent decisions, strengthening their bond proving it’s never too late to screw up your life.”
The “Once Upon a Time” alum will play Jodie, Amy’s (Coupe) close friend. Per the character description, “Jodie is also coping with the loss of Coleen. Raised by an overprotective mother, Jodie is herself a parent of three, married to a suffocating husband who gives her no room to breathe and be herself. She finds the excitement, attention, and affection she craves in the form of an affair with her gym trainer.”
Astrof will executive produce “Pivoting” alongside Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor. Tristram Shapeero will direct the pilot and also executive produce.
The project is a co-production between Warner Bros. Television, Fox Entertainment and Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment.
Ginnifer Goodwin is best known for her roles as Margene on HBO’s “Big Love” and as Snow White/Mary Margaret from ABC’s “Once Upon a Time.” She most recently starred on Marc Cherry’s CBS All Access drama “Why Women Kill” alongside Lucy Liu and Kirby Howell-Baptiste and in an episode of Jordon Peele’s “Twilight Zone” reboot, also on the ViacomCBS-owned streaming platform.
