And now for some truly Extraordinary news: Lauren Graham is returning to TV.

The Gilmore Girls and Parenthood vet is joining the cast of NBC’s forthcoming midseason dramedy Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist as a series regular, TVLine has learned. Graham will play the role of Joan, the boss of Jane Levy’s titular computer coder. She replaces Carmen Cusack, who played the character in the pilot. (I hear Graham inked a one-year deal with the show.)

Playlist follows San Francisco-based Zoey who, after an unusual event, begins hearing the innermost wants and desires of the people around her through songs. She initially questions her own sanity, but soon realizes this unwanted curse may just be an incredibly wonderful gift. The cast also includes Skylar Astin (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Ground Floor), Alex Newell (Glee), Mary Steenburgen (The Last Man on Earth), Peter Gallagher (The O.C., Covert Affairs), John Clarence Stewart (Luke Cage) and Andrew Leeds (Bones, Barry).

The gig brings Graham back into the NBC fold following her six-season run on Parenthood, a show which, coincidentally, she also joined as a recast (she replaced Maura Tierney as single mom Sarah Braverman). Playlist marks Graham’s most significant TV role since 2016’s Gilmore Girls revival on Netflix. She also recently appeared in a multi-episode arc on Curb Your Enthusiasm.
