“Gilmore Girls” and “Under Wraps” Actor Adam Wylie Arrested for Shoplifting at Target

The actor was accused of stealing more than $100 worth of merchandise from a Target in Burbank, California

Adam Wylie was arrested for shoplifting at a Target in Burbank, California earlier this month.

The Burbank Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that the Under Wraps actor, 39, was arrested on Friday, Oct. 13 after Target security observed Wiley picking out health and beauty products and proceeding to the self-check-out, where he allegedly “only scanned some of the items” in his cart.

The former child star was then confronted by the Target security outside the store and escorted back inside, according to authorities. The items that Wylie was accused of stealing were worth $108.05.

The Burbank Police Department then responded and officers issued a citation for petty theft. He was later released by authorities.

PEOPLE has reached out to Wylie's rep for comment.

TMZ was first to report the news of the Gilmore Girls actor’s arrest.

Wylie is a former child star who starred as Zachary on the '90s family drama Picket Fences and as Gilbert in the 1997 Disney Channel Original Movie, Under Wraps. He went on to play Brad Langford on Gilmore Girls. He also made guest appearances on NCIS, Malcolm in the Middle, Veronica Mars, General Hospital and Castle.

He also portrayed Jack in Into the Woods on Broadway in 2002, according to Playbill.

Most recently, he starred in the 2022 Disney Channel Original Movie sequel, Under Wraps 2. He also became known as a popular magician on TikTok with more than 1.4 million followers.
