When "Gilmore Girls" returned for a series of limited specials on Netflix, it felt like a holiday gift that was too good to be true. While "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" answered a lot of lingering questions about the girls at the center of the story, certain details were left hanging.

For fans, one of the most infuriating was the lack of resolution between Rory and Jess, who dated for a time on the original show and seem to still have feelings for one another.

At the very end of the series, we discover that Rory is pregnant. She confesses to her mother, and we can speculate based on the rest of the series that the baby is probably Logan's.

This revelation didn't deter fans who still believed that her relationship with Jess was the one that was meant to be. Her final moments with him make it clear that there are still lingering feelings there, but they don't actually get to be explored in the series itself.

Scott Patterson, the actor who plays Luke Danes, Rory's surrogate father, recently weighed in on whether Rory and Jess should end up together.

"I don’t think it’d be weird at all,” he told Us Weekly. "You must deliver on these things, and this is what people want. Fans have spoken. It’s not like they’re shy. They let their feelings [be] known. And this is exactly what they want. So I don’t see what the problem is." For Patterson, fan service doesn't have to be a bad thing.

In his interview, Patterson also discussed his hopes that Luke and Lorelai would have a proper wedding to complement the tiny, private ceremony that they have at the end of "A Year in the Life."

Patterson believes the wedding would be "filled with drama, filled with laughs, filled with, you know, Miss Patty [forgetting] the dancers and then they [would have] to replace them with little children or dog. Something very cute and goes right to the heart. A community pulling together to make it all happen."

For his part, Milo Ventimiglia, the actor who plays Jess, thinks the love between Rory and Jess will always be there. "I think that he’s never going to not love her. Now that doesn’t mean it’s a romantic love — it just means, I think, the two of them found something deep, a connection so deep when they were so young that even though their lives went on different paths, different directions, they had that,” the actor said in an interview. “They had that together and you never lose it.”
