After the breakout success of The Gilded Age season one in early 2022, HBO renewed the period drama for season two — which premieres this Sunday.

The Gilded Age‘s second season will be available to stream on Max at the same time as it airs on HBO. The channel is also available as an add-on at Amazon’s Prime Video, which offers a free seven-day trial of Max; after that, it autorenews at $15.99 monthly. Those with subscriptions to live TV streaming services such as DirecTV Stream and Hulu can also add Max to their package for an extra $15.99 per month in addition to base plan fees.

Where to Buy The Gilded Age Online

The Gilded Age season one is available on DVD for $17, or 30 percent off, at Amazon. All of season one is also available to stream on Max, or for purchase on Prime Video.

From Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, The Gilded Age season two follows the continuing society wars between two very wealthy women in late 19th-century New York City. The new money Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon) fights for a spot amongst the upper crust, while old money Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) tries to humiliate her in high society.

Fellowes joined THR‘s TV’s Top 5 podcast last year and explained how The Gilded Age is not, in fact, a sequel to Downton Abbey. “I never saw the series as connected because The Gilded Age starts 30 years before Downton Abbey,” he said. “I’m not saying I would never have a character from Downton Abbey at some point, but these are two completely separate shows.”

The new season also stars a fantastic ensemble cast, including Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denée Benton, Taissa Farmiga, Harry Richardson, Blake Ritson, Thomas Cocquerel, Simon Jones, Jack Gilpin, Cynthia Nixon, Donna Murphy, Nathan Lane and others.

More Gilded Age Merch

Fans of the historical drama can soak up even more from the Gilded Age — a term coined by Mark Twain that encapsulates the period from about 1877 to 1900 — with cookbooks, novels and more that celebrate the era.
