Musicians and athletes often have a symbiotic relationship, but there have been several times throughout history where they have clashed. Gilbert Arenas recently told the story of when he witnessed Ginuwine punch an NBA player in the face in the club.

The three-time All-Star and his co-hosts on Gil’s Arena were celebrating reaching 500,000 subscribers during the show’s Thursday (Feb. 1) episode. Arenas decided to share the humorous story of a night out in Washington, D.C with a fellow NBA player while the “Differences” singer happened to be at the same club.

“Ginuwine was giving bottles out, respect,” he said. “‘Send a bottle to him, it’s on me.’ Right, so they give it to the dude, and Ginuwine was like [tapping chest gesture], right. The dude was like, ‘I ain’t gay, I’m not accepting no bottle from no man, send that sh*t back.'”

Gilbert Arenas continued the story explaining how the bottle girl went back over to Ginuwine and told him what the unnamed NBA player said verbatim. “I’m like, ‘You didn’t have to say he said the same thing,’ right?” Arenas said. “So Ginuwine came over there, said some things, and then all of a sudden, wop, wop, wop. Like, ‘Oh sh*t, he been practicing for this thing.’ You can’t get hit by ‘Pony!’ No, he gave you all what was ‘In Those Jeans’ hands.” Watch Arenas tell the story and the full Gil’s Arena episode above.

The “So Anxious” singer recently made headlines for emphatically stating that he does not have sex to his own music, which surprised many due to the fact he has made multiple classic sensual anthems.

“No, absolutely not,” he said when asked the question. “I like old-school stuff. Marvin Gaye, ‘What’s Going On.’ I play Jodeci, too.” Watch the clip below.
