Gigi Hadid Cried Hormonal Pregnancy Tears Because ‘The Cake Boss’ Made Her Cravings-Themed Birthday Cake

When you’re pregnant, there seem to be two forces that override everything else: hunger and hormones. Just ask Gigi Hadid, who is opening up about her biggest pregnancy craving (so far) and how it basically drove her to tears on her 25th birthday. Don’t worry; they were happy tears, and her baby bump got perhaps the greatest gift of the special occasion.

In a promotional clip for The Tonight Show shared by Jimmy Fallon, Hadid officially confirms that she is expecting her first child with boyfriend Zayn Malik. “Obviously we wish we could have announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well-wishes and support,” she tells Fallon in the interview. At that point, he brings up the thing near and dear to most pregnant women’s heart (or stomach, as it were) — food. The subject? The giant bagel that popped up in photos from her 25th birthday party.

“In the morning, my family brought out an Everything Bagel cake, which already blew my mind because my craving has been Everything Bagels,” Hadid revealed, adding, “I eat an Everything Bagel every day, so I was already, like, so excited that my birthday cake was an Everything Bagel.” And on top of that, she learned someone very special had baked her cravings-themed cake.

“I found out that Buddy, ‘The Cake Boss,’ made my cake,” she said, referring to the reality TV star-slash-celebrity-baker. “I love him, and I don’t know if it was my hormones right now or just quarantine emotionalness, but I cried every five minutes for an hour every time I thought about the fact that Buddy made my cake. I couldn’t stop crying. In happiness. I was just so honored that he would make me a cake during quarantine.”

Curious what an Everything Bagel cake tastes like? Us, too. Judging by Hadid’s description, it does not, in fact, taste like an Everything Bagel. “It was actually cake. It was marble cake with chocolate chip buttercream inside,” she told Fallon.

Still, something tells us her baby bump didn’t mind switching things up from her actual craving to, well, cake.
