Ghosts on the Banke expands to four evenings at Strawbery Banke Museum

PORTSMOUTH — Ghosts, wayward pirates, mysterious fortune tellers, and giant yarn spider webs return to Strawbery Banke Museum for Ghosts on the Banke. The Museum’s family-friendly Halloween event occurs on Thursday, Oct. 26 through Sunday, Oct. 29, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and families are invited to trick-or-treat safely and enjoy various activities on the decorated grounds. Tickets are limited and available online at StrawberyBanke.org/events/ghosts-on-the-banke.cfm. Tickets are $12 per person (adult or child over 1 year old; children 1 or under, free). Museum members enjoy half-price admission.

Wander along lanes eerily aglow with hundreds of carved pumpkins, past historic houses lit with candles to light the darkness for poor wandering souls. While traveling from house to historic house, hear the haunting sounds of ghost ships forever lost in the river's fog. Warm weary bones by the All Hallows Bonfire, listen to spooky ghost stories, dare to knock on the witch's door to ask for a treat and enjoy frighteningly fun shopping at Pickwick’s at the Banke, the Museum store.

The event is spooky, not scary, and geared towards children under 12.

“After an overwhelming demand, Strawbery Banke expanded this year’s event to occur for four evenings,” said Linnea Grim, President and CEO, Thomas W. Haas Endowed Chair.

“Ghosts on the Banke offers a safe outdoor and enclosed space for trick-or-treating and fun family-friendly activities,” said Alex Cave, Museum Events Manager. “This makes the event extremely popular. Don’t forget your costume and favorite trick-or-treat container.”
